| 1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them. | 1 എന്നാൽ ഹഗ്ഗായിപ്രവാചകനും ഇദ്ദോവിന്റെ മകൻ സെഖർയ്യാവും എന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാർ യെഹൂദയിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും ഉള്ള യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു തങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചു. | 1 तब हाग्गै नामक नबी और इद्दो का पोता जकर्याह यहूदा और यरूशलेम के यहूदियोंसे नबूवत करने लगे, उन्होंने इस्राएल के परमेश्वर के नाम से उन से नबूवत की। |

| 4 They also asked them this: "What are the names of the men who are building this building?" | 4 ഈ കെട്ടിടം പണിയുന്ന ആളുകളുടെ പേരെന്തു എന്നും അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു. | 4 तब हम लोगोंसे यह कहा, कि इस भवन के बनानेवालोंके क्या क्या नाम हैं? |
| 5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not stop them until the report should reach Darius and then an answer be returned by letter concerning it. | 5 എന്നാൽ ദൈവം യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാരെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ഈ കാര്യം ദാർയ്യാവേശിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു മറുപടി വരുംവരെ അവർ അവരുടെ പണി മുടക്കിയില്ല. | 5 परन्तु यहूदियोंके पुरनियोंके परमेश्वर की दृष्टि उन पर रही, इसलिथे जब तक इस बात की चर्चा दारा से न की गई और इसके विषय चिट्ठी के द्वारा उत्तर न मिला, तब तक उन्होंने इनको न रोका। |
| 6 This is a copy of the letter that Tattenai the governor of the province Beyond the River and Shethar-bozenai and his associates the governors who were in the province Beyond the River sent to Darius the king. | 6 നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ ദേശാധിപതിയായ തത്നായിയും ശെഥർ-ബോസ്നായിയും നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെയുള്ള അഫർസ്യരായ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടക്കാരും ദാർയ്യാവേശ്‌രാജാവിന്നു എഴുതി അയച്ച പത്രികയുടെ പകർപ്പു; | 6 जो चिट्ठी महानद के इस पार के अधिपति तत्तनै और शतबॉजनै और महानद के इस पार के उनके सहचक्की अपार्सकियोंने राजा दाना के पास भेजी उसकी नकल यह है; |

| 8 Be it known to the king that we went to the province of Judah, to the house of the great God. It is being built with huge stones, and timber is laid in the walls. | 9 Then we asked those elders and spoke to them thus, 'Who gave you a decree to build this house and to finish this structure?' | 9 ഞങ്ങൾ ആ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടു: ഈ ആലയം പണിവാനും ഈ മതിൽ കെട്ടുവാനും നിങ്ങൾക്കു കല്പന തന്നതു ആരെന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. | 9 इसलिथे हम ने उन पुरनियोंसे योंपूछा, कि यह भवन बनवाने, और यह शहरपनाह खड़ी करने की आाज्ञा किस ने तुम्हें दी? |
| 10 We also asked them their names, for your information, that we might write down the names of their leaders. | 10 അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ തലവന്മാരായ ആളുകളുടെ പേരുകളെ എഴുതി സന്നിധാനത്തിൽ അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ പേരും അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു. | 10 और हम ने उनके नाम भी पूछे, कि हम उनके मुख्य पुरुषोंके नाम लिखकर तुझ को जता सकें। |

| 13 However, in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree that this house of God should be rebuilt. | 13 എന്നാൽ ബാബേൽ രാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടിൽ കോരെശ്‌രാജാവു ഈ ദൈവാലയം പണിവാൻ കല്പന തന്നു. | 13 परन्तु बाबेल के राजा कुस्रू के पहिले वर्ष में उसी कुस्रू राजा ने परमेश्वर के इस भवन के बनाने की आज्ञा दी |
| 14 And the gold and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple that was in Jerusalem and brought into the temple of Babylon, these Cyrus the king took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor; | 14 നെബൂഖദുനേസർ യെരൂശലേമിലെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽനിന്നു എടുത്തു ബാബേലിലെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വെച്ചിരുന്ന ദൈവാലയംവക പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉപകരണങ്ങളെ കോരെശ്‌രാജാവു ബാബേലിലെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു എടുപ്പിച്ചു താൻ നിയമിച്ചിരുന്ന ശേശ്ബസ്സർ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ദേശാധിപതിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു അവനോടു: | 14 और परमेश्वर के भवन के जो सोने और चान्दी के पात्र नबूकदनेस्सर यरूशलेम के मन्दिर में से निकलवाकर बाबेल के मन्दिर में ले गया या, उनको राजा कुस्रू ने बाबेल के मन्दिर में से निकलवाकर शेशबस्सर नामक एक पुरुष को जिसे उस ने अधिपति ठहरा दिया या, सौंप दिया। |
| 15 and he said to him, "Take these vessels, go and put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its site." | 15 ഈ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ നീ എടുത്തു യെരൂശലേമിലെ മന്ദിരത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുക; ദൈവാലയം അതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തു പണിയട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. | 15 और उस ने उससे कहा, थे पात्र ले जाकर यरूशलेम के मन्दिर में रख, और परमेश्वर का वह भवन अपके स्यान पर बनाया जाए। |
| 16 Then this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and from that time until now it has been in building, and it is not yet finished.' | 16 അങ്ങനെ ശേശ്ബസ്സർ വന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലെ ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടു; അന്നുമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെ അതു പണിതുവരുന്നു; ഇതുവരെ അതു തീർന്നിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അവർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. | 16 तब उसी शेशबस्सर ने आकर परमेश्वर के भवन की जो यरूशलेम में है नेव डाली; और तब से अब तक यह बन रहा है, परन्तु अब तक नहीं बन पाया। |
| 17 Therefore, if it seems good to the king, let search be made in the royal archives there in Babylon, to see whether a decree was issued by Cyrus the king for the rebuilding of this house of God in Jerusalem. And let the king send us his pleasure in this matter." | 17 ആകയാൽ രാജാവു തിരുമനസ്സായി യെരൂശലേമിലെ ഈ ദൈവാലയം പണിവാൻ കോരെശ്‌രാജാവു കല്പന കൊടുത്തതു വാസ്തവമോ എന്നു ബാബേലിലെ രാജഭണ്ഡാരഗൃഹത്തിൽ ശോധന കഴിച്ചു ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു തിരുവുള്ളം എന്തെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുതി അയച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. | 17 अब यदि राजा को अच्छा लगे तो बाबेल के राजभणडार में इस बात की खोज की जाए, कि राजा कुस्रू ने सचमुच परमेश्वर के भवन के जो यरूशलेम में है बनवाने की आज्ञा दी यी, या नहीं। तब राजा इस विषय में अपक्की इच्छा हम को बताए। |
