| 1 Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, | 1 അമിത്ഥായുടെ മകനായ യോനെക്കു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ: | 1 यहोवा का यह वचन अमितै के पुत्र योना के पास पहुंचा, |
| 2 "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me." | 2 നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു മഹാനഗരമായ നീനെവേയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു അതിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രസംഗിക്ക; അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടത എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. | 2 उठकर उस बड़े नगर नीनवे को जा, और उसके विरूद्ध प्रचार कर; क्योंकि उसकी बुराई मेरी दृष्टि में बढ़ गई है। |
| 3 But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went on board, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the LORD. | 3 എന്നാൽ യോനാ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്നു തർശീശിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു യാഫോവിലേക്കു ചെന്നു, തർശീശിലേക്കു പോകുന്ന ഒരു കപ്പൽ കണ്ടു കൂലി കൊടുത്തു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്നു അവരോടുകൂടെ തർശീശിലേക്കു പോയ്ക്കളവാൻ അതിൽ കയറി. | 3 परन्तु योना यहोवा के सम्मुख से तर्शीश को भाग जाने के लिथे उठा, और यापो नगर को जाकर तर्शीश जानेवाला एक जहाज पाया; और भाड़ा देकर उस पर चढ़ गया कि उनके साय होकर यहोवा के सम्मुख से तर्शीश को चला जाए।। |
| 4 But the LORD hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. | 4 യഹോവയോ സമുദ്രത്തിൽ ഒരു പെരുങ്കാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; കപ്പൽ തകർന്നു പോകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം സമുദ്രത്തിൽ വലിയൊരു കോൾ ഉണ്ടായി. | 4 तब यहोवा ने समुद्र में एक प्रचण्ड आंधी चलाई, और समुद्र में बड़ी आंधी उठी, यहां तक कि जहाज टूटने पर या। |
| 5 Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep. | 5 കപ്പൽക്കാർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ദേവനോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; കപ്പലിന്നു ഭാരം കുറെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ അതിലെ ചരക്കു സമുദ്രത്തിൽ എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു. യോനയോ കപ്പലിന്റെ അടിത്തട്ടിൽ ഇറങ്ങി കിടന്നു നല്ലവണ്ണം ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു. | 5 तब मल्लाह लोग डरकर अपके अपके देवता की दोहाई देने लगे; और जहाज में जो व्योपार की सामग्री यी उसे समुद्र में फेंकने लगे कि जहाज हल्का हो जाए। परन्तु योना जहाज के निचले भाग में उतरकर सो गया या, और गहरी नींद में पड़ा हुआ या। |
| 6 So the captain came and said to him, "What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish." | 6 കപ്പൽപ്രമാണി അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: നീ ഉറങ്ങുന്നതു എന്തു? എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്ക; നാം നശിച്ചുപോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം പക്ഷേ നമ്മെ കടാക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. | 6 तब मांफी उसके निकट आकर कहने लगा, तू भारी नींद में पड़ा हुआ क्या करता है? उठ, अपके देवता की दोहाई दे! सम्भव है कि परमेश्वर हमारी चिन्ता करे, और हमारा नाश न हो।। |
| 7 And they said to one another, "Come, let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil has come upon us." So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah. | 7 അനന്തരം അവർ: വരുവിൻ; ആരുടെ നിമിത്തം ഈ അനർത്ഥം നമ്മുടെമേൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു നാം ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു തമ്മിൽ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ചീട്ടിട്ടു; ചീട്ടു യോനെക്കു വീണു. | 7 तब उन्होंने आपस में कहा, आओ, हम चिट्ठी डालकर जान लें कि यह विपत्ति हम पर किस के कारण पक्की है। तब उन्होंने चिट्ठी डाली, और चिट्ठी योना के नाम पर निकली। |
| 8 Then they said to him, "Tell us on whose account this evil has come upon us. What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?" | 8 അവർ അവനോടു: ആരുടെനിമിത്തം ഈ അനർത്ഥം നമ്മുടെമേൽ വന്നു എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞുതരേണം; നിന്റെ തൊഴിൽ എന്തു? നീ എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു? നിന്റെ നാടു ഏതു? നീ ഏതു ജാതിക്കാരൻ? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. | 8 तब उन्होंने उस से कहा, हमें बता कि किस के कारण यह विपत्ति हम पर पक्की है? तेरा उद्यम क्या है? और तू कहां से आया है? तू किस देश और किस जाति का है? |
| 9 And he said to them, "I am a Hebrew, and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land." | 9 അതിന്നു അവൻ അവരോടു: ഞാൻ ഒരു എബ്രായൻ, കടലും കരയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ സ്വർഗ്ഗീയദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഞാൻ ഭജിച്ചുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. | 9 उस ने उन से कहा, मैं इब्री हूं; और स्वर्ग का परमेश्वर यहोवा जिस ने जल स्यल दोनोंको बनाया है, उसी का भय मानता हूं। |
| 10 Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him, "What is this that you have done!" For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. | 10 ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ അത്യന്തം ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനോടു: നീ എന്തിന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവരോടു അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞു. | 10 तब वे निपट डर गए, और उस से कहने लगे, तू ने यह क्या किया है? वे जान गए थे कि वह यहोवा के सम्मुख से भाग आया है, क्योंकि उस ने आप ही उनको बता दिया या।। |
| 11 Then they said to him, "What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?" For the sea grew more and more tempestuous. | 11 എന്നാൽ സമുദ്രം മേല്ക്കുമേൽ അധികം കോപിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അവനോടു: സമുദ്രം അടങ്ങുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. | 11 तब उन्होंने उस से पूछा, हम तेरे साय क्या करें जिस से समुद्र शान्त हो जाए? उस समय समुद्र की लहरें बढ़ती ही जाती यीं। |
| 12 He said to them, "Pick me up and hurl me into the sea; then the sea will quiet down for you, for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you." | 12 അവൻ അവരോടു: എന്നെ എടുത്തു സമുദ്രത്തിൽ ഇട്ടുകളവിൻ; അപ്പോൾ സമുദ്രം അടങ്ങും; എന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഈ വലിയ കോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. | 12 उस ने उन से कहा, मुझे उठाकर समुद्र में फेंक दो; तब समुद्र शान्त पड़ जाएगा; क्योंकि मैं जानता हूं, कि यह भारी आंधी तुम्हारे ऊपर मेरे ही कारण आई है। |
| 13 Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to get back to dry land, but they could not, for the sea grew more and more tempestuous against them. | 13 എന്നാൽ അവർ കരെക്കു അടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മുറുകെ തണ്ടുവലിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും സമുദ്രം കോപിച്ചു കോൾ പെരുകി വന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർക്കു സാധിച്ചില്ല. | 13 तौभी वे बड़े यत्न से खेते रहे कि उसको किनारे पर लगाएं, परन्तु पहुंच न सके, क्योंकि समुद्र की लहरें उनके विरूद्ध बढ़ती ही जाती यीं। |
| 14 Therefore they called out to the LORD, "O LORD, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not on us innocent blood, for you, O LORD, have done as it pleased you." | 14 അവർ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു: അയ്യോ യഹോവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ജീവൻ നിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങൾ നശിച്ചുപോകരുതേ; നിർദ്ദോഷരക്തം ചൊരിയിച്ച കുറ്റം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വരുത്തരുതേ; യഹോവേ, നിനക്കു ഇഷ്ടമായതുപോലെ നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. | 14 तब उन्होंने यहोवा को पुकारकर कहा, हे यहोवा हम बिनती करते ळें, कि इस पुरूष के प्राण की सन्ती हमारा नाश न हो, और न हमें निर्दोष की हत्या का दोषी ठहरा; क्योंकि हे हयोवा, जो कुछ तेरी इच्छा यी वही तू ने किया है। |
| 15 So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. | 15 പിന്നെ അവർ യോനയെ എടുത്തു സമുദ്രത്തിൽ ഇട്ടുകളകയും സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തു. | 15 तब उन्होंने योना को उठाकर समुद्र में फेंक दिया; और समुद्र की भयानक लहरें यम गईं। |
| 16 Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows. | 16 അപ്പോൾ അവർ യഹോവയെ അത്യന്തം ഭയപ്പെട്ടു യഹോവെക്കു യാഗം കഴിച്ചു നേർച്ചകളും നേർന്നു. | 16 तब उन मनुष्योंने यहोवा का बहुत ही भय माना, और उसको भेंट चढ़ाई और मन्नतें मानीं।। |
| 17 And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. | 17 യോനയെ വിഴുങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഒരു മഹാമത്സ്യത്തെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ യോനാ മൂന്നു രാവും മൂന്നു പകലും മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ വയറ്റിൽ കിടന്നു. | 17 यहोवा ने एक बड़ा सा मगरमच्छ ठहराया या कि योना को निगल ले; और योना उस मगरमच्छ के पेट में तीन दिन और तीन रात पड़ा रहा।। |
