| 1 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the fighting men with you, and arise, go up to Ai. | 2 And you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only its spoil and its livestock you shall take as plunder for yourselves. | 3 So Joshua and all the fighting men arose to go up to Ai. | 4 And he commanded them, "Behold, you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind it. Do not go very far from the city, but all of you remain ready. | 4 അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പിൻഭാഗത്തു പതിയിരിക്കേണം; പട്ടണത്തോടു ഏറെ അകലാതെ എല്ലാവരും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിൻ. | 4 और उनको यह आज्ञा दी, कि सुनो, तुम उस नगर के पीछे की ओर घात लगाए बैठे रहना; नगर से बहुत दूर न जाना, और सब के सब तैयार रहना; |
| 5 And I and all the people who are with me will approach the city. | 6 And they will come out after us, until we have drawn them away from the city. For they will say, 'They are fleeing from us, just as before.' | 8 And as soon as you have taken the city, you shall set the city on fire. You shall do according to the word of the Lord. | 9 So Joshua sent them out. | 13 So they stationed the forces, the main encampment that was north of the city and its rear guard west of the city. | 14 And as soon as the king of Ai saw this, he and all his people, the men of the city, hurried and went out early to the appointed place toward the Arabah to meet Israel in battle. | 15 And Joshua and all Israel pretended to be beaten before them and fled in the direction of the wilderness. | 15 യോശുവയും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അവരോടു തോറ്റ ഭാവത്തിൽ മരുഭൂമിവഴിയായി ഓടി. | 15 तब यहोशू और सब इस्राएली उन से मानो हार मानकर जंगल का मार्ग लेकर भाग निकले। |

| 17 Not a man was left in Ai or Bethel who did not go out after Israel. | 18 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand." | 19 And the men in the ambush rose quickly out of their place, and as soon as he had stretched out his hand, they ran and entered the city and captured it. | 22 And the others came out from the city against them, so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side. | 24 When Israel had finished killing all the inhabitants of Ai in the open wilderness where they pursued them, and all of them to the very last had fallen by the edge of the sword, all Israel returned to Ai and struck it down with the edge of the sword. | 24 യിസ്രായേൽ തങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടർന്ന ഹായിപട്ടണക്കാരെ ഒക്കെയും വെളിമ്പ്രദേശത്തു മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നുതീർക്കയും അവർ ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ എല്ലാവരും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വീണൊടുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്യർ ഒക്കെയും ഹായിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ അതിനെ സംഹരിച്ചു. | 24 और जब इस्राएली ऐ के सब निवासिक्कों मैदान में, अर्यात् उस जंगल में जहां उन्होंने उनका पीछा किया या घात कर चुके, और वे सब के सब तलवार से मारे गए यहां तक कि उनका अन्त ही हो गया, तब सब इस्राएलियोंने ऐ को लौटकर उसे भी तलवार से मारा। |
| 25 And all who fell that day, both men and women, were 12,000, all the people of Ai. | 25 അന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളുമായി വീണൊടുങ്ങിയവർ ആകെ പന്തീരായിരം പേർ; ഹായിപട്ടണക്കാർ എല്ലാവരും തന്നേ. | 25 और स्त्री पुरूष, सब मिलाकर जो उस दिन मारे गए वे बारह हजार थे, और ऐ के सब पुरूष इतने ही थे। |

| 27 Only the livestock and the spoil of that city Israel took as their plunder, according to the word of the LORD that he commanded Joshua. | 27 യഹോവ യോശുവയോടു കല്പിച്ച വചനപ്രകാരം യിസ്രായേല്യർ പട്ടണത്തിലെ കന്നുകാലികളെയും കൊള്ളയെയും തങ്ങൾക്കായിട്ടു തന്നേ എടുത്തു. | 27 यहोवा की उस आज्ञा के अनुसार जो उस ने यहोशू को दी यी इस्राएलियोंने पशु आदि नगर की लूट अपक्की कर ली। |
| 28 So Joshua burned Ai and made it forever a heap of ruins, as it is to this day. | 28 പിന്നെ യോശുവ ഹായിപട്ടണം ചുട്ടു സദാകാലത്തേക്കും ഒരു മൺക്കുന്നും ശൂന്യഭൂമിയുമാക്കിത്തീർത്തു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെയും അങ്ങിനെ കിടക്കുന്നു. | 28 तब यहोशू ने ऐ को फूंकवा दिया, और उसे सदा के लिथे खंडहर कर दिया : वह आज तक उजाड़ पड़ा है। |
| 29 And he hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. | 31 just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded the people of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, "an altar of uncut stones, upon which no man has wielded an iron tool." | 33 And all Israel, sojourner as well as native born, with their elders and officers and their judges, stood on opposite sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, half of them in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded at the first, to bless the people of Israel. | 33 എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അവരുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും പ്രമാണികളും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരും യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമന്ന ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ സ്വദേശിയും പരദേശിയും ഒരു പോലെ പെട്ടകത്തിന്നു ഇപ്പുറത്തും അപ്പുറത്തും നിന്നു; അവരിൽ പാതിപേർ ഗെരിസീംപർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ വശത്തും പാതിപേർ ഏബാൽപർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ വശത്തും നിന്നു; അവർ യിസ്രായേൽജനത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ മുമ്പെ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ. | 33 और वे, क्या देशी क्या परदेशी, सारे इस्राएली अपके वृद्ध लोगों, सरदारों, और न्यायियोंसमेत यहोवा की वाचा का सन्दूक उठानेवाले लेवीय याजकोंके साम्हने उस सन्दूक के इधर उधर खड़े हुए, अर्यात् आधे लोग तो गिरिज्जीम पर्वत के, और आधे एबाल पर्वत के साम्हने खड़े हुए, जैसा कि यहोवा के दास मूसा ने पहिले आज्ञा दी यी, कि इस्राएली प्रजा को आर्शीवाद दिए जाएं। |
