| 2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. | 2 ഹാ മായ, മായ എന്നു സഭാപ്രസംഗി പറയുന്നു; ഹാ മായ, മായ, സകലവും മായയത്രേ. | 2 उपकेशक का यह वचन है, कि व्यर्य ही व्यर्य, व्यर्य ही व्यर्य! सब कुछ व्यर्य है। |
| 3 What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? | 3 സൂര്യന്നു കീഴിൽ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രയത്നത്താലും മനുഷ്യന്നു എന്തു ലാഭം? | 3 उस सब परिश्र्म से जिसे मनुष्य धरती पर करता है, उसको क्या लाभ प्राप्त होता है? |
| 4 A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever. | 4 ഒരു തലമുറ പോകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരു തലമുറ വരുന്നു; | 4 एक पीढ़ी जाती है, और दूसरी पीढ़ी आती है, परन्तु पृय्वी सर्वदा बनी रहती है। |
| 5 The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises. | 5 ഭൂമിയോ എന്നേക്കും നില്ക്കുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ ഉദിക്കുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുന്നു; ഉദിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെല്ലുന്നു. | 5 सूर्य उदय होकर अस्त भी होता है, और अपके उदय की दिशा को वेग से चला जाता है। |
| 6 The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns. | 6 കാറ്റു തെക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നു വടക്കോട്ടു ചുറ്റിവരുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ കാറ്റു ചുറ്റിച്ചുറ്റി തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു പരിവർത്തനം ചെയ്യുന്നു. | 6 वायु दक्खिन की ओर बहती है, और उत्तर की ओर घूमती जाती है; वह घूमती और बहती रहती है, और अपके चक्करोंमें लौट आती है। |
| 7 All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full; to the place where the streams flow, there they flow again. | 7 സകലനദികളും സമുദ്രത്തിലേക്കു ഒഴുകിവീഴുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും സമുദ്രം നിറയുന്നില്ല; നദികൾ ഒഴുകിവീഴുന്ന ഇടത്തേക്കു പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ചെല്ലുന്നു. | 7 सब नदियां समुद्र में जा मिलती हैं, तौभी समुद्र भर नहीं जाता; जिस स्यान से नदियां निकलती हैं; उधर ही को वे फिर जाती हैं। |
| 8 All things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. | 8 സകലകാര്യങ്ങളും ശ്രമാവഹങ്ങളാകുന്നു; മനുഷ്യൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ തീരുകയില്ല; കണ്ടിട്ടു കണ്ണിന്നു തൃപ്തി വരുന്നില്ല; കേട്ടിട്ടു ചെവി നിറയുന്നതുമില്ല. | 8 सब बातें परिश्र्म से भरी हैं; मनुष्य इसका वर्णन नहीं कर सकता; न तो आंखें देखने से तृप्त होती हैं, और न कान सुनने से भरते हैं। |
| 9 What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. | 9 ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതു ഉണ്ടാകുവാനുള്ളതും, ചെയ്തുകഴിഞ്ഞതു ചെയ്‍വാനുള്ളതും ആകുന്നു; സൂര്യന്നു കീഴിൽ പുതുതായി യാതൊന്നും ഇല്ല. | 9 जो कुछ हुआ या, वही फिर होगा, और जो कुछ बन चुका है वही फिर बनाया जाएगा; और सूर्य के नीचे कोई बात नई नहीं है। |
| 10 Is there a thing of which it is said, "See, this is new"? It has been already in the ages before us. | 10 ഇതു പുതിയതു എന്നു പറയത്തക്കവണ്ണം വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടോ? നമുക്കു മുമ്പെ, പണ്ടത്തെ കാലത്തു തന്നേ അതുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. | 10 क्या ऐसी कोई बात है जिसके विषय में लोग कह सकें कि देख यह नई है? यह तो प्राचीन युगोंमें वर्तमान यी। |
| 11 There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things yet to be among those who come after. | 11 പുരാതന ജനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഓർമ്മയില്ലല്ലോ; വരുവാനുള്ളവരെക്കുറിച്ചു പിന്നത്തേതിൽ വരുവാനുള്ളവർക്കും ഓർമ്മയുണ്ടാകയില്ല. | 11 प्राचीन बातोंका कुछ स्मरण नहीं रहा, और होनेवाली बातोंका भी स्मरण उनके बाद होनेवालोंको न रहेगा।। |
| 12 I the Preacher have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. | 12 സഭാപ്രസംഗിയായ ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിരുന്നു. | 12 मैं उपकेशक यरूशलेम में इस्राएल का राजा या। |
| 13 And I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven. It is an unhappy business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. | 13 ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ സംഭവിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ ആരാഞ്ഞറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; ഇതു ദൈവം മനുഷ്യർക്കു കഷ്ടപ്പെടുവാൻ കൊടുത്ത വല്ലാത്ത കഷ്ടപ്പാടു തന്നേ. | 13 और मैं ने अपना मन लगाया कि जो कुछ सूर्य के नीचे किया जाता है, उसका भेद बुद्धि से सोच सोचकर मालूम करूं; यह बड़े दु:ख का काम है जो परमेश्वर ने मनुष्योंके लिथे ठहराया है कि वे उस में लगें। |
| 14 I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind. | 14 സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ നടക്കുന്ന സകല പ്രവൃത്തികളും ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; അവയൊക്കെയും മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ. | 14 मैं ने उन सब कामोंको देखा जो सूर्य के नीचे किए जाते हैं; देखो वे सब व्यर्य और मानो वायु को पकड़ना है। |
| 15 What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be counted. | 15 വളവുള്ളതു നേരെ ആക്കുവാൻ വഹിയാ; കുറവുള്ളതു എണ്ണിത്തികെപ്പാനും വഹിയാ. | 15 जो टेढ़ा है, वह सीधा नहीं हो सकता, और जितनी वस्तुओं में घटी है, वे गिनी नहीं जातीं।। |
| 16 I said in my heart, "I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge." | 16 ഞാൻ മനസ്സിൽ ആലോചിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: യെരൂശലേമിൽ എനിക്കു മുമ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാവരെക്കാളും അധികം ജ്ഞാനം ഞാൻ സമ്പാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ജ്ഞാനവും അറിവും ധാരാളം പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. | 16 मैं ने मन में कहा, देख, जितने यरूशलेम में मुझ से पहिले थे, उन सभोंसे मैं ने बहुत अधिक बुद्धि प्राप्त की है; और मुझ को बहुत बुद्धि और ज्ञान मिल गया है। |
| 17 And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind. | 17 ജ്ഞാനം ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും ഭ്രാന്തും ഭോഷത്വവും അറിവാനും ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; ഇതും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നമെന്നു കണ്ടു. | 17 और मैं ने अपना मन लगाया कि बुद्धि का भेद लूं और बावलेपन और मूर्खता को भी जान लूं। मुझे जान पड़ा कि यह भी वायु को पकड़ना है।। |
| 18 For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow. | 18 ജ്ഞാനബാഹുല്യത്തിൽ വ്യസനബാഹുല്യം ഉണ്ടു; അറിവു വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ ദുഃഖവും വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. | 18 क्योंकि बहुत बुद्धि के साय बहुत खेद भी होता है, और जो अपना ज्ञान बढ़ाता है वह अपना दु:ख भी बढ़ाता है।। |
